Today the three of us got together at a little coffee shop down by the beach and began making plans for the new and improved PFLAG Brevard. The president explained everything she had done by herself or with the help of just a very few people up to now. Honestly it's mind blowing what she has accomplished thus far. Everything is in place for a MAJOR leap forward for our organization.
Once we have the articles of incorporation we'll be able to start canvassing LGBT-friendly county businesses for donations for monthly raffles and drawings at Friday Fest. Then at Friday Fest we'll make literature and educational materials available while we offer the drawings. We also plan on doing more with the schools to encourage GSA groups. Increasing our visibility is paramount so that the people of this county understand there there IS an LGBT community here and that we are Moms, Dads, Brothers & Sisters. We have families just like straight people do.
We're also going to start offering family-friendly activities like picnics and movie nights. Support is a wonderful thing and we're still going to be here for those in crisis or who are having trouble adapting. That's always going to be a major part of PFLAG. It's also nice to do something outside those same four walls.
I'm really excited to get out there and start doing things in and four our community! If you're interested in our updates you can add us on Twitter (PFLAGBrevard), friend us on Facebook (Pflag Brevard) or email our president at SafeSchool4All@aol.com
In the next few weeks we'll have our own website up. That will be www.PFLAGBrevard.org OR it might be a .com Our Webmistress is working on securing that for us. I'll post the site when it becomes available.
